Episode 1

July 30, 2010
10-13-10:  We just had a huge spike in listeners and we are really excited about it.  I thought I should post somewhat of a disclaimer here to remind listeners that these first few episodes were our first attempts at any sort of podcasting, broadcasting, and recording.  We are still new to the podcasting world and although we are still trying to get the hang of producing and recording a weekly radio show, back when we recorded the early episodes we had absolutely no clue what we were doing.  It was basically plug in a couple microphones and try to fill an hour.  Three months later we do the same thing, only now we try to prepare for each show.  If this is your first time listening to the show and want to get an idea of what its all about, go straight to episode 3.  After that, if you’re still interested and want to hear more skip episode 4 and listen to 5, 6, and 7.  Then go back and listen to the early ones.
Also, keep in mind that because of the nature of sports, you are going to get the most relevant discussions in the most recent episodes.  Its fun to look back and laugh at some of our NFL week 2 picks or our preview of the Boise State/Virginia Tech game, but if you want opinions on this weekend’s college games, you will want to check out the newest episode.  I’m sure it goes without saying, but the first episode consistently gets more downloads then the most recent episode on any given week so I figured it was worth mentioning.

This is the premiere of The Dog and Deuce Show, a podcast about two friends who love to talk sports.  In the coming days, months and (dare I say) years to come, you will find that Dog and Deuce are never short of opinions – or passion – about the most talked about issues in sports.

Show Notes:

Here it is, a full week after we recorded episode 1 and I’m only just getting it up on the site.  What can I say?  I’m just not good with computers.  Anyway, I think we’re off to a pretty good start.  Here’s a quick recap of some of the topics we tackled on our premiere episode:

  • LeBron James makes his highly controversial move to Miami
  • Dan Gilbert’s infamous letter to Cavalier fans
  • Al Jefferson traded to Utah
  • Steve Blake to the Lakers
  • Raja Bell makes his triumphant return to Salt Lake City
  • College football conference expansion
  • John Daly
  • Why Lance Armstrong needs to go away

Dan Gilbert’s letter: http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2010/07/gilberts_letter_to_fans_james.html

We have big plans for the coming weeks, including a toll-free voicemail line so you can call and give us your thoughts and opinions directly.  We also plan on upgrading the microphones and upgrading to a hardware mixer for a much improved sound.

I know the show strives for objectivity but I have to agree with Dog on the whole BYU thing. I think it’s something that some of us are just born with.

I just couldn’t help it. I tried to hold it in but I’m only human. Thanks for listening.
