Very few get by Nick Rimando
This week Dog and Deuce were fortunate to talk with Nick Rimando. Nick is the superstar goalkeeper for Utah’s Major League Soccer team REAL Salt Lake. In 2009 Nick led his team to a victory against David Beckham and L.A. Galaxy to give the young franchise its first MLS Cup. The 2011 season started on a familiar note with REAL Salt Lake defeating the visiting Galaxy 4-1 to extend RSL’s record-setting unbeaten home steak. Nick played on an injured ankle and was still one goal shy of shutting out a flashy and stacked Los Angeles squad. Nick is arguably the best player at his position in Major League Soccer and has played a vital role in the recent success RSL has enjoyed.
In this interview Nick gives us an update on how his ankle is progressing, shares what he thinks REAL Salt Lake must do to advance in the Concacaf tournament, gives his thoughts on the recent Galaxy victory and updates us on the status of his popular blog. He also addressed the Rimando jersey drought and tells us where fans might be able to pick one up.
