This is part 2 of the D & D Show preview of the 2011 NBA Playoffs. In this episode Dog and Deuce break down each of the opening round matchups in the Western Conference and review their NBA Finals picks from earlier in the season. Do either stand by their early predictions?
(1) San Antonio Spurs vs (8) Memphis Grizzlies – Zach Randolf and The Grizzlies are hungry to silence their critics and prove to the league that they can play – and beat – the NBA’s best. With Manu Ginobli’s health in question, can Memphis take advantage of the opportunity and shock Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and the rest of the Spurs?
(2) Los Angeles Lakers vs (7) New Orleans Hornets – The Lakers have been off their game in the past month and even endured a five game losing streak. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol need to push the role players into more consistent play if they hope to fend off Chris Paul and the overachieving Hornets. Does Derrick Fisher stand a chance of shutting down CP3? Does he even need to?
(3) Dallas Mavericks vs (6) Portland Trailblazers – Some are predicting this series to be one for the ages. Some say Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and the rest of the Blazers will be lucky to win one game against Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and the Mavericks. Dog and Deuce are in total disagreement about how this series will play out. Which one do you agree with?
(4) Oklahoma City Thunder vs (5) Denver Nuggets – The Nuggets don’t have Carmelo Anthony or Chauncey Billups but they do have George Karl, the coach who single handedly saved the team from disaster. On the other side the Thunder have Kevin Durrant and Russell Westbrook, a dynamic duo who pick apart weak defenses with ease. Will Karls superior coaching be enough to top the OKC’s talent?
